THE ACCREDITING AND PROMOTION OF CHURCH  SPONSORED EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS  [Founded on the first day of July 1997]

As it is our purpose to achieve the best goals possible in securing solid, honest and true religious education of church sponsored institutions, we hereby wish to outline our objectives and guidelines for accrediting such church schools and programs:

  • The development of universal cooperation in the field of higher religious education and research, and the intensifying of exchanges between its member institutions;
  • The promotion and development of ties of solidarity and friendship between church sponsored institutions accredited by UAC;
  • The provision of technical services to our members and to religious organizations, as well as the creation of instruments of information and documentation concerning religious education throughout the world;
  • The provision of better cooperation and mutual understanding between these educational institutions by more specific identifi‑cation of mutual needs, available resources and the potential for jurisdictional support;
  • The study of concerns or problems of common interest to these schools and institutions being in various locations;
  • The promotion and organization of symposia, retreats and workshops consistent with the foregoing objectives;
  • To build, throughout these activities, a strong church sponsored support service and a community able to promote mutual under‑standing among people of different ethnic or religious backgrounds, and thus to serve the cause of true love and peace among us all;
  • To promote general activities, including advertising and publicizing of our member institutions, on a national as well universal level;
  • To create and maintain a climate within which member institution may better train their students or clients in the knowledge and skills required in the educational, spiritual or pastoral field;
  • The collection of statistical or other such information, and the dissemination of it to our member organizations or other entities as well as the general public;
  • The promotion of higher educational standards in the religious field and the promotion of higher professional goals along with the development of a code of ethics for membership in our accredited institutions and programs;
  • The promotion of recognition for member institutions by educational authorities by other organizations;
  • The transfer of credits, training achievements and employment referrals from one to another member institution.

We are always pleased to assist those who have achieved great accomplishments in their personal lives as well as in their professional career. Those who operate a school, a ministry or pastoral institute are welcome to explore the possibility of recognition through a church sponsored accrediting commission, the UNIVERSAL ACCREDITING COMMISSION (UAC).

As an accredited seminary by (UAC),  Aloha Christian Theological Seminary (ACTS) degrees are not only accredited and transferable to St. Elias but also with all collages and seminaries accredited by (ACI) and (IUAA) as well as (UAC).   In all, 240 Colleges and Universities now in relationship with St. Elias School of Orthodox Theology and Aloha Christian Theological Seminary as listed below.

St. Elias School of Orthodox Theology is a dependency of the Eparchy of Nebraska and was incorporated in the State of Nebraska as a non‑profit educational organization on December 4, 1992, Reg. # 76417. It is  accredited by the Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges and Theological Seminaries  (ACI) since 1996, and the Universal Accrediting Commission for Schools, Colleges and Universities  (UAC) since 1993. It is also accredited  at the International University Accrediting Association  (IUAA) since 2002. - With its executive offices in Beebe, Arkansas, the ACI currently accredits 240 schools and colleges in 36 states in the U. S . as well as in 6 other countries on five continents. This is church‑related accreditation. Students taking St. Elias classes and programs should not assume that credits will be accepted by secular and other private schools, colleges, businesses, or governmental agencies. It is the responsibility of the student to check with school districts, businesses, and other institutions to determine whether St. Elias or ACTS credits will be accepted prior to taking classes. All of our credits are however accepted at any of the 240 institutions accredited with ACI. - To maintain authentic and uncompromised integrity in teaching Orthodox doctrine and ethics as guaranteed in the constitutional right of strict separation of church and state, we are not seeking secular, governmental recognition and reject interference through state approval or accrediting agencies that are controlled by the federal board of education.
